The deals were announced with the company's fourth quarter earnings, in which sales grew by 31 per cent to $US895 million. Under Armour completed its acquisition of Endomondo in January, and the MyFitnessPal deal is expected to close by the end of March, it said. Government regulators have already signaled that they have concerns about how health data is used and shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Under Armour will have to be careful how it makes use of all that data. It wasn't clear how many of those are active, regular users, and the company didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Those existing offerings have 31 million registered users, so the acquisitions will increase the number fourfold. It also owns the workout app MapMyFitness, which it bought in 2013. Under Armour hopes to use the information to expand sales of its clothing, hiking shoes and other products. In today's data-driven economy that could be some very valuable data, and it steps up the competition with rivals such as Nike, as well as a myriad of technology firms tackling digital health. That includes how much they sleep and exercise, what they put in their body and their nutrition needs, he said. I left it late to check this on purpose I wanted to see how my attitude changed to the game when I could make a monetary assessment of how much each action was actually costing. I'd spent quite a lot of my allowance, and I wanted to see what this would convert to into cash. Having spent such a sizeable chunk of my funds, it was about time that I checked how much my credits were actually worth. Combat is automatic - you bump into enemies as if you're clumsy on the dancefloor. But each screen of Hyrule is its own little combat encounter: a chunk of carefully designed terrain filled with baddies and treasure chests and - perhaps! - hidden areas and opportunities.Īnd you move to a beat here, yomping from one spot to the next in time with the lavishly reworked Zelda tunes, given an electro buzz one second and a disco bounce the next. You explore Hyrule as Link - or Zelda or Cadence, zapped in from a distant world, each character having their own special abilities and available in co-op - and it's filled with recognisable landmarks like Lake Hylia and those muddlesome woods. Cadence of Hyrule takes the world of Zelda and the combat of NecroDancer and makes them work together. Even after a deluge, even after the apocalypse, everything is in its place.Īnd yet it works. So much about Cadence of Hyrule feels like this: a meeting of distant worlds that results in something that just snaps together as if it was meant to be, that results in something harmonious. Here is a word of our own that fits perfectly. Zelda is filled with wonderful words of its own devising. It says there is a hidden order in nature and this order is beautiful - elegant and taut and melancholic and not to be messed with. Cadence! This word is a song and a river and a waterfall. Switching over to Zelda in another campaign, I find a completely different set of powers at her disposal, complete with her reflecting crystal ability from Super Smash Bros.
